I spend a lot of time with all of my flocks. One of my top favorite things about chickens is that each and every one of them has a unique personality and different preferences that cannot be matched by another. They are more human-like than most people believe－they are far from emotionless and dumb, as they are stereotyped. My chickens are for enjoyment, not meat or eggs. I want them to live a happen life and I want to bond with them every day.

Agree with all of it. I probably spend a good 4-5 hours total per day with mine. Since I'm an empty nester now and I don't work outside of the home, it's my full time gig and I really enjoy it.

I spend about 1/2 to an hour a day with my chicks. I think they think I am part of the flock.

Great ideas for a new or experienced owner. With life moving a million miles an hour it’s easy to forget what slowing down even for 10 minutes to train your dog or hanging out with your chicken can do. it’s so beneficial for both!

So true! Great article as we love to be greeted and even hold our chickens on a regular basis. We have videos of my son holding our big barred rock rooster like a baby and he lays there cuddled in his arms and crows. So cute.
