The Cluck Hut

Repurposing old buildings and sheds are a wonderful way to incorporate a flock of poultry to your backyard while keeping costs under control. But it would help us more if instructions and more details were included in this article.
You had me at repurposing. As a picture-a-holic I would have loved more pics, inside, outside, on the side. As one who will be needing a coop in about a month I would have devoured any shared photos.
Cute coop! Needs more photos and details on the build

This is a great idea for re-purposing an existing playhouse. Lots of people have them standing around their back yards but don't know how to go about converting them. If you could include some details (and possibly pictures) of how you adapted and predator-proofed a playhouse to go from being safe for kids to being safe for chickens, it would be very helpful.
My own coop is a converted playhouse - you've inspired me into cleaning it up and posting it, too. It's still a playhouse ... mine!

Thanks! The playhouse is a solid wood structure with tile inside (not what I would have picked, but it was here before me). We added roosts inside and 3 nesting boxes. My husband built the run around it and we added sand, which was a great choice for drainage issues, and we'll be reinforcing with plexi-glass roof soon to keep out rain, along with screening on the windows. The chicken wire is actually buried about a foot out from the enclosure; I plan on planting some marigolds there. Always open to suggestions as well!
I appreciate the effort to re-use existing materials but am concerned about the use of chicken wire as it's too weak to keep predators out. Also, the roosts and nesting boxes seem too high?

Thank you for your feedback! I'm not the best picture taker, but there is another 2x4 in between the high roost and the ground which actually goes across the length of the coop. So far nobody has had a problem getting up or down, but I can put in another 2x4 to make it easier. There is also a shelf under the nesting boxes-it used to be a desk when it was a playhouse.
