Top 50 Herbs for Your Chickens

Thank you so very very much for this article full of wonderful knowledge and help for my backyard besties! One quick question if I may...is there any possible way to get this in a PDF format so I may print it out. Unable to visa app or online due to all the interrupting ads!
Thank you!
This is one of the best articles I've ever read on chickens food. I grow tons of herbs and was not sure what I could get to my girls. Great article
Your article was very informative, thank you! I just wonder how much is too much? I’m down to just 4 chickens and they definitely look to me for treats if some sort each day. I share my raspberries and blackberries and occasionally basil and oregano. I will start adding some chives and sage! My lavender is done blooming but still smells great so will add the dried flower stalks to their nesting boxes!
Thank you for this thorough article on herbs! I use a few myself but we have a member asking about them so I searched and found your article to share with them. I'll come back and read more too! Thank you! ❤️
Are all of these herbs also safe for ducks?
Very helpful article, thanks! For us, in addition to the nutrition question we had to use 5 additional criteria for choosing which herbs/grains/legumes to plant in the chicken paddocks. 1) Is it a perennial (pretty much grows itself)? 2) does it grow well in NE Ohio? 3) Does it hold up well under grazing? 4) Is it pest-resistant? 5) Do chickens LIKE it? Using ChatGPT, we were still able to pull together a list of 18 plants to seed in different sections of the chicken paddocks.
Thank you! This article is great! Very helpful, I already have most of these growing in my garden already! Can't wait to share with my girls !:thumbsup
Thank you! I have had chickens for over twenty years and had no idea how many herbs I could have been making available to the ladies. While I knew some, it’s embarrassing just how many I was clueless about. My husband is at the store, I called him to pick up seeds & plants. My ladies are going to be happier and healthier because of this article!!!
Well-written article. Valuable information about the benefits of using herbs to contribute toward the health of my flocks.
I feed my chickens a lot of these herbs! One of my bantams had a small case of coccidiosis last year and I gave her Oregano and it worked wonders. Excellent article!
Thank you. Excellent concise article. I love these types of articles that we can keep and refer to when we need them.
Thanks! My first season w/ my 5 hens & I am sprouting wheat grass seeds & growing it in trays to place in the run for Christmas dinner. Coop lights are up... this is fun!
Appreciate the great information provided in this article about herbs for chickens. Will be useful for me as I start my flock.
Excellent article! Parsley is a favorite around here! Since you pointed out it’s effects on laying makes me better understand why I’m overrun with budgies 🙈
