Hi! I am a college student who grew up raising goats and hatching chicks, but only in the last 2 years have I actually started keeping chickens! As a little girl we would hatch chicks for fun and then give them to whoever wanted them. we did this cause my dad hates chickens… but two years ago my friend gave me some eggs to hatch and in that batch of random eggs there were three tiny brown eggs. We waited whith great anticipation to see what would pop out of them! On day 21 two baby chicks popped out of the tiny eggs and surprised us by having fluffy feet! When they grew up we found out that they were cochins… and they were both hens too! We just kept telling my dad that we were working on getting rid of them… but one day I decided that I was keeping them… and so when the other chicks went to their new home the two tiny ones stayed behind…
Today we still have one of them (the other one died last winter while I was gone at school) and 21 other chickens. LoL
