Using Deep Bedding in a Small Coop

We have an 8 chicken coop that I would never put more than 4 in. I thought deep litter was 4/5cm. I still clean it out every day and top it up. I figured it kept them warm from the cold coming up. They also have a woolen blanket and tarp over the top to keep the heap in. I’ve blocked all the side draughts but the do have top air vents that release under the tarp. They also have lined nesting boxes as they stick out in the cold.

This is so incredibly helpful. I would rather do zero work for long periods of time and then hunker down and get things accomplished in a little longer bit of time. Being new to this and in the research stage this seems like SOOO much. Read through it once, but I am sure as I repeat the reading it won't seem like so much. This only adds to my excitement for getting our own Hip Hillbilly Farm dolls and a guy.

Think it may be time for me to start putting some of my reading in writing. I am shooting or an August start with the birds but July for coop making.
