I own to ducks, Tilly and Viking, I have had them for a while now, and I have learned a lot from them. First to start off the Blue Swedish Ducks, are a great breed. They are a bit nosy, but they are very social animals. I had Tilly, and Viking since they were little. And they turned out to be great. I am 25% Swedish, and I originally wanted to get a Swedish breed. I did some research and found out that this was a very good breed.
I built a fairly big pen for the ducks, and my two ducks are not picky. I learned that raccoons can be scared away with lights that turn on when something is near. On the wood posts, I put scare tape to scare away birds. Under our deck, we had thick metal rods, so I decided to use those for a part of the pen, and my ducks love it. I bought a clear plastic tube from Amazon two have a cool feeder. And Tilly likes to sleep on a dog bed. Viking will sleep anywhere. I bought a 55-gallon tank for the ducks to drink in, and possibly swim when they got older, now they just drink from it. The ducks will get extremely loud if raccoons start to come near. I bought hardware cloth wire, so the raccoons can't get in, and all in all the pen cost about $100, but I had materials, already.
My two ducks like to eat worms, so I bought a plastic tube off Amazon and put it in the pen, I then put a mixture of feed, nutrients, and worms In the Tube, so they ducks an eat whenever they want, and The stuff keeps on going down the tube. I put the water, near the tube. Because water makes the food easier to chew. I get new food to abut every month and I, of course, give them vitamins and stuff they need.
Cleaning them is not that bad, and it is not terrible like some people make it seem, I did not know what to expect with these ducks, as far as hygiene goes, but I think there to find.
These ducks are really fine, and I think they are the best breed out there.
