Here in the California Bay Area our weather is not terribly cold. But on frosty mornings I like to give my hens a special treat. I make cream of wheat for them. Depending on what I have, sometimes I will add fruit or vegetables to the mix before I serve. Don’t stand nearby as they tend to sling it about with their beaks! They are very excited about it! Such fun to watch them. I keep a plastic bin from the dollar store to serve my ladies their special concoctions.

Sound like what my chooks would love. I give them warm oats some mornings which they love, but you seem to have a concoction of sorts including oats (I think). Are you able to give me a recipe?
It’s just a box of Cream of Wheat made according to instructions on the box. I add goodies if I have some on hand—veggies or fruit.
I am assuming you just use water to make it? Or do you use any milk? Can they have milk?

I use water when I make it.
My hens used to beat up the barn cat so they could get the goat milk I put out for her....poor cat would sit out of the way until they were done and it was her turn.
