Chickens losing weight, concave breasts!

I'm afraid that if something isn't done soon, I will wind up losing my birds.

Pretty much, my birds are ALL bony and they are being fed 22% grower mixed with 16% layer pellets and BOSS. They are given scratch as a treat (1 cup). The layer pellet mixture is offered 24/7.

Thing is...they're eating...it just seems like nothing is going through. It is most evident in my growing birds.

What can I give them to eat that will at LEAST get them through the next week?

I've never had worm issues in my flock before...so THIS might be why I don't understand what's going on! Is there a way I can go ahead and treat for worms?
 
You can treat them for worms if you are not selling the chickens or the eggs as organic. I would immeadiately. Oh and at this stage I would go streight to the vetrinary types like ivermectin. Not to things like DE or pumpkin seeds. Remember to repeat the treatment in 7-10 days to get the new crop of baddies hatched from eggs left behind , before they too lay eggs, and perpetuate the cycle.

Wow! I just never even realized it! I mean...I took classes about it, but I just assumed it would keep being the same as it always was!

How much do I give per bird?

And when you say Ivermectin...do you mean wormers that they use for horses and cattle? The flavored kind?

Their are a numberof ways to give it dhunicorn's website is a good one, and there are other posts as well. Their are 2 kinds of ivermectin. An oral kind (injectable) and a skin kind (Dip). Ivermectin is not approved for chickens, but is the one my vet used to give me for my birds because it is very effective broad spectrum and also gets bloodsuckers like lice and mites. And there is piperizene, which is approved for chickens , but gets only roundworms.

I think I read that oral dosages of ivermectin are more effective for internal worm problems , but don't know if that is true although it kind of makes sense. Anyway if you use injectable (given orally) it is like 7 drops per bird by mouth, (if you can give a chicken oral medications - personally I can't) or 1cc (1ml) per quart of drinking water (This must be their only source of water so they drink enough of it, give for 3 days) or with the new dip type a drop on the back of the neck on the skin (not the feathers).

Pierizine (Wazine) goes in the water also if you decide to use it instead at 1 oz per gallon. (same deal as above).

Read up , buy wormer, and then dose those gals. Good luck.

The ivermectin is Ivomec, the kind for cattle and swine. It comes in a brown box with a cow symbol on the front of the box. It needs a syringe also, purchased seperately, to get it out of the bottle and get the dosage. You just measure the dose (1ml ) and squirt in the water. 1ml/quart or 4ml/gallon etc.
