Blue vs. Lavender

Can someone post pics of blue and lavender birds? the difference isn't clear to me yet? Thanks, you wonderful chicken folks!
 
I didn't have any Lavender (Self Blue) birds but I did have regular blues. Her is a pic of some of my Cochins.

(The dark one in this photo is obviously Black)

Somewhere there is a very nice thread with pics of the two colors. I will see if I can find it.
 
Here are some lavender pics. Self blue is more of a silvery gray color than blue. The difference is also how the color gene works. Self blue breeds true and blue does not.

Blue is described as being a uniform shade of plain slaty blue clearly and sharply laced with lustrous bluish black. Self blue is described as having the entire surface an even shade of light slaty blue, free from mealiness, cloudyness or mottled appearance.

OMG! What beautiful pic! I see the difference now, although sometimes the blues are more homogeneous than other times. The Lavenders are much lighter. Thanks everyone.
