Black Copper Marans - "Reject" eggs-$35 dozen inc. s/h - SOLD

I'm offering Black Copper Marans eggs at $35 per dozen which includes shipping. I call these my "reject" eggs because they are lighter in color and range from a week old to today's eggs. Right now I have two dozen available to ship tomorrow.

I ship only the darkest eggs and normally set these lighter eggs (either bator or broody) but I've been hatching eggs for a year straight and I'm tired of "Bator Watch" and "Brooder Watch" so the first two people to post "Sold" gets them at $35 dozen. I can also do both dozen for $60, in the same box.

Well, I'm getting several e-mails and PMs asking for more information so I've summed up the answers here:

1. All info about breed lines is in the posted linked thread above.

2. No, I can't hold them till you mail a check. I'm still waiting for checks from people who never sent them. Plus, the eggs need to go out today or tomorrow or I will have to incubate them. However, if you want to mail a check, I will ship eggs out, as soon as I have them, after the check clears.

3. Yes, I will always have "reject" eggs because now that they are back to laying full swing I only ship the darkest eggs and hold out the light ones. But these are the broodiest hens I've ever owned and they keep going broody, 2 and 3 at a time, and out of production so their egg output varies as well as the color. Sometimes they are all dark, sometimes mostly all light, and now all dark but with a few light ones.

4. I'll sum up all the general B. C. Marans questions like ("will they always have feathered legs"; "will they always lay dark eggs"; "will the chicks look like the parents"; "will the chicks lay dark eggs", etc. etc.) with the recommendation that if you want to know everything there is to know about Marans, there are many threads, including a Marans Thread and websites for that info.

Hope this helps. There are many, many wonderful characteristics about this breed of chicken and this offer is a way to get started. There's nothing wrong with the eggs, it's just that I'm starting to breed more selectively now and focus on egg color and breed standards.

But, here's a pic I just took of my "reject" eggs. They aren't "that" light, just lighter than the dark ones, usually speckled, sometimes scratched up because the hens all lay in the exact same spot. For comparison, there's a regular brown egg on top. But for those who know and own Marans, "reject" eggs are normal.

I thought I might add to this that I got 2 dozen of Ruth's "dark" eggs. A few got cracked in shipping. I put 22 in the incubator and hatched 16 big nice chicks. I was very pleased.
 
Thanks Choll for the recommendation. I was sorry to hear that you had some cracked eggs. You were the only person, in the last few months, out of daily shipments, that had any get cracked so they must have gotten shaken up pretty badly - so it was great that you had such a good hatch. How are they doing?
