If you read my post earlier today you know that I got a call from the main El Paso post office (200 miles away!) this morning to say my chicks were there. We finally agreed that they should have put them on the truck to my town and they were going to do that in the morning. Evidently there was another truck because about 2p I got a call from my local PO saying my babies had arrived! I was actually at the lumber yard buying material for my coop when the call came.

All 10 in their little box brooder. 2 Silver Spangled Hamburgs, 1 Red Sexlink, 2 Golden Sebright, 2 Japanese White/Black-tailed bantams and 3 buff Brahma bantams.

Red sexlink and the little feather footed Brahmas. The little yellow Japanese bantam and one of the SS in the lower right corner. The sexlink looks enormous compared to the little banty babies!

Golden Sebright. Everything I read led me to believe these babies were especially fragile as they are so tiny. Compared to the Japanese bantams, the Sebright's are huge!

Silver Spangled Hamburg

I got them from My Pet Chicken and am so impressed. All 10 were happy and apparently healthy. No pasty butts, icky eyes, funny feet or crooked legs in the bunch. They are all equally active and seemingly happy. Because it came up on a couple of other threads about how My Pet Chicken can ship smaller numbers of chicks, here is a pic of the shipping box -

The white thing is a heat pack and you can see the green goo they put in for feed. These chicks were shipped yesterday and made it all they way here overnight - way to go USPS!

I may never leave my house again, I'm so overwhelmed with cuteness! Oh wait, I've got that coop to build!

I'm glad your beautiful babies made it safely, and on behalf of the USPS, "You're welcome"

I read in several places here on BYC that it was a good idea to put the marbles in the water to keep the new chicks from possibly drowning in it. I used flowering arranging glass beads as I had no marbles.

marbles are good for bantys and quail but you don't need them for standard size breeds
