I know they are able to undo eye and hook latches. I'm wondering if they can open a barrel lock.

All I know is they do pretty well w/ there hands. I had an experience w/ coons and they got in a building(kitchen) for a camp sight and nothing was untouched they opened jars, turned the water on by all the sinks, opened and dug in the fridge, even pop bottles we had a mess and not to mention all the food was destroyed. They are really good w/ their lil hands.

Can you be a little more specific? There are tons of different types of barrel locks out there. If the lock involves a key, you are probably (PROBABLY) safe.

The best way I can describe it without picturre is that it has the same action as a bolt action on gun. you have to pull a lever up or down and push it forward or backwards.

Yes, they can. If a two year old child can open it, a coon can. I have a key lock thru the opening on the barrel lock to prevent the bolt from sliding.

They can open very tight lids. When we were camping racoons got in our trailer and they opened a jar of peanut butter that none of us had been able to open (glued shut by PB). Some how they were able to get it open and it was definitely racoons. Peanut butter racoon prints all over the place.
