A couple of my chickens have watery runny eyes and one had what looked like foam coming from it's eye. Some have mucus coming from thier nostrils and are sneezing. The seem to be fine otherwise eating and drinking fine. Is thier something I can give them. It seems like they have a cold or allergies. Should I be concerned about the health of the other ladies? They seem fine.

thanks
Chris

I have separate the four that look like they have bubble eye. Is there a supplement I can give them to help for now. I plan on cleaning out the coop. The other chickens are in a brand new coop for now. Is there any thing else I can do? How long should I wait before I really start to worry about the whole flock? Where do I find info on my state vet NY?

thanks
Chris

I don't know much about the diseases but hopefully someone else will jump in soon. In the mean time keep a good watch on the others & do a search for swollen or puffy eyes. https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/search.php You can contact your department of agriculture for some info but it would probably be best to get as much info as you can off here first.

sounds like they may have upper respitory infection, also can be infectious corza(only if the discharge smells)??? Im not sure but a few of my chicks that I purchased from a local person started getting sick and they got the bubbles in the eye and nose, started to smell. I put them on teramyicin(sp?) in the water everyday for 3 weeks and gave them Tylin injections twice a week for 2 weeks, some I only had to give for 1 week, and they are all good now! Good luck and Im not an expert but it did work for us:eek:)

I have been giving mine duramycin powder in their water and injections of tylan-50. I actually contacted my state ag department today and will possibly have the chickens tested to see exactly what this is, but mine have all of the same symptoms as yours. Good luck. You can also put terramycin eye ointment in their eyes to help with the bubbles.
