We seem to have one extra yellow chick. We may have messed up a little
on our counts. Could a Buff Orp be yellow as a chick? The other orps are
orange. Hmmm. I like a good mystery.

The two little yellows are leghorns that came from two of our white eggs.

Is this possibly an Orp??? Jody are you playing a trick on me? I'm 90% sure
this chick hatched from one of your brown eggs.

Is it just the photo or does it have orange legs? An Orpington should have pink legs

I have to agree..I don't think that's an orp either. .the fluff is way too light, unless its a super pale buff. And I don't have anything else that would have hatched that appears white that lays brown eggs. My araucana and ameracauna lay blue/green eggs.

Did you count your egg shells when they hatched? Sometimes it will tell you which is which. I make sure those eggs pipped in half match like a piece of puzzle and it would tell me, ok one brown egg...more to go...

Buff Orps chick legs should be either white or pink......and at maturity, they should all have pink legs.

I dont think Jody would have misinformed you or put you down for the wrong breed of eggs on purpose.

I think if that is all the eggs you had from your Leghorns and Jody, then it may have been your Leghorn chick.

I don't think Jody switched an egg. I was just being silly.

Jody's 14 eggs were nice and big and brown.

Out of my 5, 2 were white and 3 were small browns with checkmarks. They were
so small they didn't need checkmarks anyways. The two whites hatched
the two little yellow chicks. 1 of three of the brown was an assisted hatch.
That chick is still in the bator. It's very clear I mixed up one of my brown
eggs with one of Jodys'.

I have 2 roos, one leghorn and one black silkie. Obviously Dad is my leghorn.
Who is mom?
2 Leghorn hens - Lay white eggs - Nope
2 EEs - Lay green eggs - Nope
That leaves 2 Australorps, 1 Jersey Giant, 1 Buff, & 1 Sussex.

I don't know chicken genetics but I'm gonna guess the chick is a Leghorn/Buff cross.

I know you were being silly. I can't wait to see it when it grows, so we can figure out what it is. I would think Buff/leghorn cross. I see it has a white beak..the legs may turn white over time as well..and you got yourself one excellent producing white orpinghorn. lol
