My five week old Silkie chick has a bloody blob sticking out from her vent. I saw one of the other chicks peck at it and she squealed and ran to hide. Could this be a prolapse or is she too young? She is on medicated chick starter and is acting fine. Her fur is messy because she has been eating watermelon. Please help.

Clean her off with antibacterial soap Rinse with water mixed with povidone iodine. It looks somewhat like a prolapse, but that does seem young. If after cleaning it still looks like prolapse, apply some preparation H. Keep her separated until well-healed.

Do I try to push it in after washing? If it isn't prolapse and I put prep H on it, will I hurt her? I have no experience here.

I washed her and put prep H on the part sticking out. I gently pushed it in, but she was squirming and straining to get away and when she did, it would stick out further. I would really appreciate any advice. Thanks.

I read your post and I have no idea. I don't even have chickens, just quail but I feel bad that nobody has posted anything so just take this as a bump.
Good luck
