She's not dead, she's missing. I let the chickens out for their almost bedtime range, and she disappeared. I was with them the whole time. What's the chance that she's stolen off to establish a secret nest? I pulled her off her box to try to break her broodiness.

If she`s broody and you pulled her off her nest, she hasn`t gone off to start another one. Looks like a predatory situation to me. Did you check the nest she was pulled off of? You`ll be lucky to find her. Sorry......Pop

If you've pulled her off her nest and taken her eggs, she will likely sneak off and hide on you and that is when a predator will snatch her up. That happened to me with a RIR years ago. She went off into the bushes and tried to establish another nest, one that I couldn't get to, and got gobbled up by the fox.

Hope you find her soon.

We'll see if she shows up at door closed time.

It's my Australorp, so I could look right at her in broad daylight and not see her.

Dang it.

I can`t figure why you girls think a broody hen, that isn`t laying, would be interrested in establishing another nest. Seems to me the only way they would establish another nest is to put eggs in it. If you think differently, I`m curious as to your reasoning......Pop

I've been pulling her off a few times each day hoping she'll get the hing. I'm taking her eggs too.
Silly cluck.

Silly girl went back to her nest box when I went in the house.
I think I've found her some eggs too!
