10/9 UPDATE #29 .....4 week old chick injured Graphic pic

Hi guys,
On Wednesday we let our 4 week old chicks out of their coop and into their section on the run. While gathering them up to show them the great outdoors I found one to have blood on his belly and leg. After cleaning him up I noted a rather large knot which is bleeding. At first the clot looked like something growing out of it so I cleaned it out. there is no puss under it just blood. I put blue kote on the belly and on the leg. Today again the scab had grown so i cleaned it out and put more blue kote on it. Here are pictures first are with the scab the others after I cleaned it out. It looks like a hole and feels like a knot.
Any idea how this happened and is there anything else I should do for her?
I have her in the hospital cage with one that has crop problems .

I would keep the wound clean, possibly rinse with a weak betadine/water mixture and top with neosporin without the pain reliever in it. It almost appears as if she has an infected ingrown feather? Keep us posted on how she is doing and best of luck for a speedy recovery
 
My cat once had a warble larvae (type of fly) basically a giant maggot...it almost looks like a warble crawled out of the hole on your chick. I would flush with saline really well, or even an iodine tincture and leave it. Maybe a tad of neosporin to kill bacteria...or keep it out.
Anyone else think that looks like a warble hole??
It could be just an injury...or possibly some kind of boil.

I concure. Weak betadine + thin layer of neosporin or a topical wound spray. Keep it open (no bandages). If she's in an area where she can get gack in her wound, you may want to isolate her in a carrier on newspaper (can be shredded) until it scabs over. She should be just fine!
 
UP Date, Three time I have found her with blood running down her leg, also blood around her beak. It looks like the 1st picture again after I clean it.
Should I remove the scab or leave it?
This time I but neosporin on it and covered it with the pad from a bandaid and vet wrap. I know people said to leave it open but she apparently keep pecking it.
 
Just a comment: You know, when I have a scab from an insect bite or small burn, it itches as it's healing, and I often scratch the scab off without thinking. Maybe birds are the same?
 
That could be that it is just itchy.
It's been at least 6 days and I see no improvement. The lump is hard. Guess all I can do is
