TamiHunter is incubating White Silkies, due to hatch this Friday - I'm incubating B/B/S Jersey Giants, due to begin late tonight.
Tami & I wanted to begin a thread so we could compare notes easily rather than PMing back & forth...anyone is welcome to join in!
I've got 7 eggs in (a TINY hatch!!), and day 20 began at 8 p.m. last night. I had two eggs that had water in the air cell (I've not seen this before, nor have any of my seasoned hatching friends, so not exactly sure what's going on). The eggs are extremely porous, so I increased the humidity more than what I typically hatch at. That was my first thought on the water in the air cell, but then when I looked at the sizes of the air cells - I found they were a bit larger than they should be. So it can't be from that.
Anyway...I hatch in egg cartons, but the 2 that had water in the air cells I removed, and laid them on their sides. One of them was rolling all over the bator yesterday, but last night & this morning....nothing. So, I don't know if it died, or I just haven't been able to catch it rolling again.
I really expected a pip or two by this morning, but nothing. Hope I get a few to hatch! I'm at work all day today, but DH will be reporting in to let me know if anything is happening.
