for when they are feathered out to not need the heat lamp, but still too little to be added to my older hens. And I figured I might be able to use it for broody's too.

Here it is. I paid $350 for it, and it's practically brand new. I just have to replace the chicken wire with hardware cloth.

So do you think with the older ones seeing them through the run, but they sleep in different areas would be enough of a transition to slip them in my main coop at night?

What a great solution! Then after your chicks are transitioned, you've got a ready made chicken-jail if anybody needs a time out for naughty behavior!

Do you all think the older hens seeing them through the run would be enough to get them used to each other? Even though they would be sleeping in different coops?

Great find, I've always made a little hole in the brooder - so the babies can get in and out but the big mean poo-poo heads can't get in. I normally do that at around 7-8 weeks when I put the babies outside, works for us.

Very nice find! It should help.
When you let them in the run together for the first time or two, sit in there with them and if someone is pecking on a little guy have a squirt bottle handy and squirt the older hen each time. As if you were the momma hen and were keeping the other older girls away. Worked for me after a couple of days. The little girls learned to give way to the older hens...that is called knowing your order.
