I cheated and had a local meat processor smoke and bake this 45.8 lb tom. He was suppose to be a pet but then began attacking the grandchildren. Now we have a new family tradition for Christmas. The next one will be Tom 2008. We framed his pic toasted his life short though it was.

lol, thats a good looking bird, cooked to perfection.
and its huge ! what breed and how old was he.

The turkey was a "Reach into the stock tank brooder at Rual King" variety, other than that I have know idea. He was seven months old when he was prcessed. I believe he would have went over 55 lbs if he had gone another month or two. We can't wait for Tom 2008 to show up at Rural King this spring.

Good Lord, what were you feeding that turkey, small chickens???? We had a 25 pound turkey at Christmas and I Like to have never wrestled that sucker into the oven!!!

That is a gorgeous turkey! Makes my little 12lb hen I raised look like a roasted chicken! LOL I do have an early order in for poults this year. We are going to go full out after eating our own turkey this past Thanksgiving.
