So, the more chickens I"m getting and my bators are full I'm wondering how all of you keep track of your birds.
I bought leg bands in different colors and sizes for each type and will use that to keep track of who's who but what about the paperwork involved?? Any good ideas or spreadsheets out there???

Help !!!

Well I only have 9, so I can just tell who they are. Maybe if you have different kinds- separate them into different pens. For example, say you have 10 chickens: 2 buff orps, 2 polish, 2 black cochins, 2 leghorns, 2 stars. Put one of each into a pen together. If you have all of the same kind, legbands are a good idea. Just get a notebook, and record all the necessary info about everything in order.

razen maintains a pretty good spreadsheet. You can download it for free here. Whiteconfections makes a software which is on sale here for $20. I'm making a free software, but it's not finished yet. See the link in my signature.

I know a good way...

Just FYI, I'm in the middle of a new software! The Chick Chart is also undergoing some large updates/upgrades. There will be a new one, strictly for a certain part of the chicken keeping business, but that's not ready to launch yet!

Anyway, if you'll PM me I can give you ubers and ubers of people who like the software, they said it would be all right if you contacted them for info on it.

Starting today, when you order The Chick Chart, you get the upgraded version for free!

There also are flash drive editions, specifically for flash drives, that let you automatically backup your information, and pop it out, bring it to the barn computer, and open up and run!
