I have a 5 week old Partridge Plymouth Rock that should be a girl (sexed chick at farm store). I'm starting to become suspicious that it is not a girl, because the tail seems erect, shoulder feathers long and pointy, legs long, shanks thick, and it's acting a little dopey like young roo's often do.

Can anyone tell if it's a boy or a girl yet???

Those legs are long aren't they?! I've never had a PPR before, so I looked at feathersite a lot and the breed does seem to have long legs. But...

It is a girl.It is too early to look for pointy feathers. Her comb is small and yelow-not pink. She is not growing black chest feathers, like boy will do.90% girl.

This is helpful!!! So, it sounds like the boys start developing black chest feathers at this age. I looked all over the web for pics at this stage, but couldn't find any. Any of you have, or know where to find, pics of roo's/pullets at this approximate age?

Updated pics of PPR (into the 6th week):
