Hi folks! First question from this newbie, so please forgive my ignorance.

I bought my first chicks on the first and I bought (according to the feed store) 2 brown leghorns, 2 black sex-links and 2 golden sex-links. I've been told differently by two different workers (both who had chickens!) the color of the eggs the brown leghorns would produce. One said white; the other said brown. I looked at their ear patches and they're definitely brown, BUT I thought leghorns only produced white eggs.

So, I was curious what you thought. Brown or white eggs? I really wanted mostly brown layers with some colored eggs (I'm getting Ameracaunas this week!) Of all the chicks I have, they're the more flighty ones, but definitely the prettiest.

Leghorns always lay white eggs.

Ooops, that was my dumbest typo yet.

not to be mean but this is what i found on wikepedia correct me if im wrong.cut and pasted Leghorns are excellent layers of white eggs

Leghorns lay white eggs. Sorry Kooshie. If they have white earlobes they will lay white eggs. If you have leghorns that don't have white earlobes then sorry you don't have leghorns. Chickens with red earlobes will generally lay brown eggs except in the case of Ameraucanas, Araucanas, Naked Necks, and other tinted or colored egg layers.

ETA: sex links lay brown eggs
