ive tryed to think of everything as this is my first hatch there due the 17th and hopefully i will have some goslings i have put a mirror in and a fluffy chick incase we only get one of or incase one is pushed out of the group its acctually monkey shavings as a base will they be ok there not like horse shavings they are curly and mat together to form a mat that is very absobent yet easy to clean ive gave them somewhere to hide if the light is too much for them and i have made a cover for it to keep ut the draft

few good lol it was acctually what i brought for my rabbit that was too young to go outside but ive scrubbed it too within an inch of its life

Wow! Mine are gonna calle CPS (Chicken Protective Services) on me if they see that. All they get is a rubbermade tub with papertowels and a little food and water.

It looks great. I'd use the red bulb. I would also cover the monkey shavings for the start. They will pick it apart. Goslings are sweet, but one of the most destructive forces in the known universe.

How many babies are we talkin? I think it will totally work for a few(5 or less) but more than that you will definitely need to "upgrade" to a bigger brooder once they grow a bit. I would go with the red light. I used a red bulb this time round and it seemed to be more calming for them...especially at night. Remember...not sure how may watts that bulb is but mine was 120watts and it gets VERY WARM...so you may have to play with it in the beginning and see how close it really needs to be. I picked up a cheap little digital therm/hygrometer from ebay...sweet deal like $12 and free next day shipping! It saved me ALOT of worries b/c I just plopped it in the brooder and always new the exact temp! You just want the heatsource to be in one little corner the rest of the cage is for them to get away from the heat. Anywho...HAVE FUN!!! CONGRATS!!!

Hey if you do need to upgrade at some point..Target...HUGE rubbermaid containers...CHEAP!

That looks like a huge IR lamp, if it doesn't have one you might want to add a dimmer to adjust temps, they can get pretty hot.

I think you need to change out your lamp base. Those red lights need to be in a fanned out brooder lamp. The way that one is set up may catch on fire!

ok well i can get red bulds for a diffrent lamp base that one i cant take out its a special silver cross one it does have a dimmer on the back and its only for about 2 to begin with i have some silkie/frizzle/sizzle eggs in the bator but i candled tonight and only 3 look like goers out of 6 one has a blood ring and two i cant tell will have to wait till day ten to see if there going or not but they have a seperate brodder like this one just in blue
