I'm starting low & offering these eggs on a one-day auction due to a cancellation (customer was wanting eggs for her broody, but now has enough & cancelled order).
I have worked very hard on my Marans this year, culling heavily & keeping only the very best stock. You will not see any mossiness in my stock whatsoever; I do have two hens that have W. Jeane in their bloodlines, which is known to cause mossiness, so there is a possibility of getting some, but again, I have heavily culled and none of my hens nor my rooster display this trait. Look around, and you will find it's difficult to find French Black Coppers without the mossiness that lay a nice egg!
The eggs pictures are not retouched, taken without a flash, and from the beginning of their laying cycle. However, they are still laying quite dark, and I've received some very nice comments from folks regarding egg color.
The olive eggers are just to sort of round out the order! These will be 2nd generation, so the female offspring should lay a VERY dark olive green egg. Here are pics of my Marans stock and some olive eggers:
Duke:
Duke and some of his ladies (the hen to the far right with too much coppering in her hackles is not in the breed pen any longer):
Here's a pic a customer sent during her hatch:
A very nice hen (Davis bred):
Upper right is one of my darkest thus far - it was yummy, too!:
Cutie!
Olive egg - the layers are bred back to my Marans rooster to make even darker olive-laying offspring:
PayPal only auction - payment is due by noon on Tuesday, and eggs will ship out shortly thereafter. Thanks for your consideration!
