I got my little Moderns from Ideal, which is the only place I could find them. Oh, they are so cute, and friendly, too. I got lemon blues. They do not breed true, so I have some lemon blues, some black, and some splash.

But all cute.

They do not really stand upright, so I am hoping that they do this more when they get older. But they do have long legs, they are like little fluff balls on stilts.

I am making them a special little coop of their own, so I can breed some for myself.

I wish I could find someone else who has them also.

Hi Catherine! I just love my MGB! I have birchen bantams and they are the friendliest non-chicken-y little birds.
I'd love to see pics of your Lemon Blue chicks.
I've got 2 MGB chcks in the brooder --- they hatch with long legs, but do take a while to get 'stilty'.

Hi Lisa! I am behind on all my emailing because of health problems.

Nice to see that someone else has the little Moderns!

They ARE nice and friendly, aren't they? Where did you get yours, were they from Ideal also?

I keep saying I will try to get pics. I am SO non techy.

It is good to know they will get stilty later because I was concerned about it.

If you know of any place else who has them, let me know.

Here are some pictures of some of my chicks.

Hi! My apologies for use of improper terminology.
They all *look* "stilty" to me.

edited to add: I need blues --- SO cute!
edited again: I traded a few years ago with a fellow and got my original trio --- no idea where he got them from. I had never seen them before then.

What should I call it instead of stilty?

I thought they were supposed to be sort of leggy and stand upright?

The little guys are not really upright, not yet, but more so than my other chicks.

I think that the term would be High Stationed. I could be wrong but I think that would be the correct term for a Long Legged bird ...

See, I need one of those standards. I don't have one, obviously.

Well, they certainly are a little peculiar! Neat!
