I made the mistake of chickens before the coop and can't afford much more than this currently.

No kidding huh. If he still has it that will be the hard part. I think my uncle has a flatbed trailer we can use so that will help some. Are you on the hunt for a new coop too?

Good Deal?-------maybe not, I've had problems in the past with outbuildings made of orientated strand wood. The Roof doesn't overhang all four sides, so rain will weather the wood quickly. If the base is in contact with the ground, it will rot, even if its treated and you waterseal and/or paint it. (Trust me on this, I've had similar outbuildings rot within 10 years) Check out my Coop on my BYC page, I built it over 15 years ago with the design features intended to last. My Coop has a roof that overhangs all four sides with tarred edges before the metal drip edges went on. The foundation holds the wood above ground with the sheath overlapping the foundation so water can't seep into the base of the walls, and the floor is a sub-ground dirt deep litter composting method.

I say GO FOR IT! If that is what you can afford, then take the chance on it. Spruce it up with some paint, add ventilation, windows, nesting boxes and you're good to go. Even if it only lasts a few years ....you will get your money's worth. Maybe by then you will be able to buy something else. It does look like it will be a bit of a squeeze to get out but where there is a will there is a way. I will keep my fingers crossed that you

Let us know if you get it!

That looks great! (glad I'm not the one who has to move it!

) Not everyone can afford to make a bomb shelter for their chickens. Do the best you can. Add improvements as you are able to.
