One of my hens has been acting a little "off" for a day or two. Upon a closer examination, I found little white worms crawling all around her vent and they appear to be coming out of her vent. I'm guessing they're pinworms and gave her some piperazine and used a syringe to squirt hydrogen peroxide on her vent. What else should I do ?? Please help.

it may be maggots too make sure you remove all of them

when was the last time your chickens were wormed?

is her comb pale?

is she thin? is her breast bone protruding?

can you take a pic and post it?

how old is the hen?

Don't think they're maggots. Maggots I think are fatter.

haven't been wormed in about nine months.

comb is still red but a little droopy.

she's a little thin but has a good appetite.

picture tomorrow.

she's about a year and a half.

AFAIK, Chickens cannot get pinworms. The next best guess without a picture is hairworms (capillaria). They're about 1/2 inch long and as big around as an extra fine mechanical pencil lead (.5mm). Piperazine does not eliminate capillaria. Use one of the following: 1.Levamisole hydrochloride 2. Albendazole 4. Oxfendazole 5. Fenbendazole 6. Ivermectin
