Mice/Rats! The hunt is ON!

We have had some mice or rats digging UNDER the building and into the chicken coop! They have been stealing food and digging up the coop!

We have set a small trap that the chickens cant get into, but havent caught anything yet. I hate rats/mice!!!!! Any suggestions?

Get some "Just one bite" poison, and put it in a place where your chickens can't get into it. It's quite safe, and it's the only way I've found to control mice and rats.

So I have ordered some RatZappers, passive electronic (battery-operated) traps. Mice go in, get killed by shock, you pick up the unit and dump the carcass out into the trash. Batteries good for 50 kills.

I saw similar units at the feed store, but they were earlier (dusty) models of various kinds. The obvious "mover" in the feed store stock was the Just One Bite option.
 
hi there, we have had the same problem here in england, they are a darn nuisence, so far OH has filled all holes in with filler and cement, but the buggers are getting through a little hole in the corner of the roof, they climb the tree outside and walk in , easy, i cant get the poison blocks here that you guys have in US so i am relying on the good old snap rat trap, so far have put poison down in shed next door as they are in there as well, its a constant battle, i dont think we will ever win !. good luck, post again if you have success

I would be interested to see how the zapper works for you. I bought the "Just One Bite" product and a container to put it in. I have small children and dogs and neighbor cats and of course native birds that I didn't want to do any harm to. I found the bait holder at Lowe's/Home Depot and I had to search for a long time and they had only one. It was big enough for mice, rats and Squirrels, (which I don't have) but I wasn't going to worry about size, since I did find one. Very handy, and I think it is working. They very next morning I checked the bait and they had already eaten some of it.

I had to do something rather drastic because they were getting into my kitchen ceiling which is close to the chicken coop. Anyone seen Ratatouille - The Disney Movie?

I have to say I am much happier with the bait station because I was really worried about the other bait. It was the little blue pellets in a cup. I put it outside out of the rain and worried about it every day because of the animals and kids. I checked it after I installed the bait station so I could go throw it away and ummmmmm..... the entire thing was gone. Either the mice carried it away, or.....? I don't know?
 
I had the rat zapper yet got nothing at all. The green light would flash, but nothing would be inside. Even touched the plate to see if it would work - it didn't. Returned it. The "just one bite" poison solved the problem again. The bait would be gone, and I eventually found a fresh dead rat, and a decaying one behind the fence. What really made me like it was my chickens ate a whole stick. I was sure they were going to die, but they lived just fine, never got sick at all.
 
HI guys! The only problem with the one bite stuff is that theres no where to put it that the chooks cant get to it. We have one of those maze type traps where the mice go in and get stuck. the chickens cant get into there.

You can easily make a bait station that is safe to put in with poultry. Use a piece of 3" diameter PVC tube at least 2' long and I prefer longer. I drill a hole in pipe halfway down its length. I then thread a piece of copper wire thru the hole and out the end . Is the Just one Bite a one time kill? Meaning if a mouse eats it, then dies, then another animal eats the mouse-such as a dog, cat or chicken-will it kill the animal? This is my main concern.
