I got a backyard poultry mag Apr/may 2008 issue volume 3 number 2 and was simply amazed at what I learned about apple cider vinegar! You mix 1 tsp with a quart of the chickens drinking water and it's suppose to Improve fertility, give them better health, help clean plumage, help the respiratory system AND it's also a natural fly repellent/deterrent! Put in in a spray bottle and spray it in the coop! Does NO harm to your chickens at all! It's used for organic chicken farms all the time

Using this regularly in your chickens water supply can reduce the use of antibiotics. YOu can also treat skin irritations with a diluted mixture of 10/1. This is an awesome magazine with many helpful tips! I will use the vinegar treatment in my hen house over fly repellent any day! Just thought this would be helpful to someone looking for organic treatments!

Wait! What mag.? I didn't know there was a mag.

I found it at the tractor supply store and I LOVE it. Tons of great tips and some cute jokes and stories in it too. I got the "Backyard Poultry" magazine which is filled will all sorts of poultry but I think they have just a plain chicken one too which is what I would get next as I don't plan on having ducks or other poultry.

Apple cider vinegar is indeed a miracle liquid for all kinds of things, for humans and animals alike. it also makes the body very alkaline. Disease cannot live in an alkaline environment. Disease, like cancer, loves an acidic body, so keep on giving your animals the apple cider vinegar (do not give white vinegar!). Take it yourself as well, or rub it on the body, rinse hair with it etc. It's great! I've been using it for years.

Also, another miracle product to eradicate worms, parasites, viruses etc., is coconut. Give it to your animals in coconut milk form, or as dried shredded unsweetened coconut bits. My chickens, cats, and bunny love it, and they have never had any worms or parasites, feathers and fur are bright and shiny, and they have loads of energy. Great for humans as well, especially if you plan on travelling to places where the water is a risk for consumption.

It is quite well documented for dairy animals also. Will increase milk production. Give it to a cow not bagging up when about to calf. It stabilizes the body PH within the normal range and she will produce normally in days. Reduces e.coli counts in a dairy animal also.

Highly diluted FOOD GRADE hydrogen peroxide has a similar effect but has a few risks ACV does not. It is also a very dangerous product to handle in its 35% form.
