Do you think that plastic fencing will be sufficiently predator proof? I need to build a tractor for mine in next weekend, and was contemplating it. I use it all the time in the garden for things like covering my strawberries or pea fence, and its fairly tough. We don't have marauding dogs or "big game" predators like coyotes or bobcats here, just coons, opossums, and hawks. And I have 3 live traps I can bait with stuff like cat food and put out in the area I keep my birds, to remove the threat of the first two.
 
Looks great so far! Nice job! I am a little weary on the roost for them though. It is often recommended not to have any kind of roost in a pen/tractor/coop for meat birds, such as CornishX's. If they are able to get up, the can get very badly hurt trying to jump down. Obviously your roost isn't very high up, which helps, but I would be concerned it could still cause problems. Perhaps someone with a lot more experience could chime in on that one...

I am so thrilled you showed the pictures with the hinges... I know it sounds silly, but when we built our pen, no matter what DH did, the hinge part ended up with a 1/4" gap and lets the rain in. Thus we have this awesome tractor/pen...but its covered with a tarp. Seeing the pictures of how you hinged it (in the middle..so both pieces flip up... )VERY HELPFUL!!! Thank you for sharing.

That is correct. They do not seem to be a problem for us because of our dogs. LOL.

I like it. It looks good.

I'm going to have to tackle something this weekend or next week. My 25 are coming tomorrow (hopefully, the feed store already postponed it a week).

I was looking at materials today at Home Depot during lunch. I'm thinking about using 1" weave plastic lattice for the three sides and part of the top, with a solid end and door as you did for shelter from the weather. Since 1" is still big enough for a raccoon to reach through, I'll line it with the plastic fencing.

Also, I will probably just use everything "whole" if possible, so no cutting and measuring. Thinking about making an 8 x 8 size that I can scoot along a few feet at time. I've already got some extra solid rubber lawn mover type wheels that will work.
