Just wondering if there are other BYCers out there that are as nuts as me and have fans for your birdies when it get hot?
I even have a small fan for my two broodies sot they can stay cool too. LOL

We set one up outside the run when it got real hot and the girls were panting. At one point they stood lined up side by side facing the fan. darn, it was cute.

I have two fans in each coop.

In my brahma coop there is a box fan in the front window and in the back one.

In my larger coop, that has mostly screen (hardware cloth) for a front there is a oscillating fan on a stand just inside the door and the window in the rear of the coop has a smaller fan to draw hot air out.

The stand fan had belonged to my GSD Kane, but he got a new fan for those rare times when he and his brother have to be in their crates.

We thought about adding some of the old fans left over from the commercial houses, but in a regular coop they would blow the feathers off the chickens.

Two... a smaller, solar-powered fan inside the coop itself and a larger, oscillating fan for the covered run.

I did too. I have 2 small windows ( and vents) So I put one pushing hot air out and one pushing cool air in. But I am looking for one of those vents (small) you see in shops, large chicken house etc. that can stay running even in the rain with no chance of electrocution. Went to Lowes, home depot, Atwoods, Tractor supply. No luck. Tractor supply has one but WAYYYYY to big. So I will search the internet. Just something to suck the hot air out.

We have several of those laying around here, but find them too big, too powerful to use in a typical size chicken coop. They are older though, from older commercial houses, so I don't know about the electricity issue.

There's a place in Cove, Arkansas that sells supplies to the commercial houses, I'll bet they have them. I'll try to remember the name of the place and PM you if I do.

I don't have fans but I do have sprinklers in the birds yards and they like the water and get sprinkled on. I also wet down in their shade.

Here are my coops. There is wire under the roosts over a poop pit and air does come in under the coops as well as the ventilation in the front and back. The coops actually stay pretty comfortable inside. I painted them white and the roofing is a light color too.

I have fans in each of my coops. I'm sure if I am hot so are they. If I could afford it they would have AC but since we dont in the house I'm sure DH would spring for them to.

I have a fan that will blow into the big run so both the hens and juveniles can settle nearby if they want. I have a battery operated fan that blows into the rehab pen for my one-eyed girl. I only use them on really hot days. They have lots of shade.
