Hello, my name is thomas.

Please, allow me to take you to my home town, I want to ask you to save the date to stop in for our Fall Festival this year.

My Grandfather, loved the FFA, he worked hard to promote it. Chris Mac Neil, the current AG teacher, works hard with Local Farmers and the community to keep the tradition alive.

The Pine Plains FFA has decided that for our Fall Festival themes we will be piggy-backing on to the NYS Ag Literacy Day theme for the year.

This year's theme is "chicks & chickens".

The second graders have already been introduced to this topic & the FFA has, this year, with the help of Mr. Simmons & the tech classes built a chicken coop that is now between our two barns (you should check it out, they did an awesome job!). The FFA will be raising chickens & selling eggs (eventually) - it already houses 15 hens.

We are hoping that with more notice we can increase public participation in the Fair displays. Please feel free to share this message with anyone who may benefit from it.

This year's Fall Festival will be October 8th - 9th, 2011

We would also like more ideas, a poultry swap? poultry exhibition? looking ahead, what is most sustainable? The Ag Fair is a 35+ year tradition.

Thanks for all you do!

Pine Plains is just a few minutes off the Taconic Parkway, oh about 80 miles North of NYC.

Growing up, Dairy farms and farming were the mainstay of the community.

It is really a beautiful area, near Millbrook, Red Hook and Rhinebeck, we always played them in HS sports.

There is a parade that kicks off the Saturday festivities, a horsepull scheduled and an antique tractor pull. My sister, Tosca, is helping with the events, and I will get a full list from her or Chris as it draws nearer.

I will be posting more info here over the next few months, maps, other things to do- Like climb Stissing Mt. and overlook the nature preserve from the firetower, grab lunch at the deli or at the fair...

Poultry swap? Poultry judging/exhibition? I would like some simple, sustainable ideas about this.

thanks for looking!
