Do not turn eggs??? What do you think???

Lol the HUGE hatcheries do not even incubate many if any at all eggs, they have breeders all over the country who do the job for them, they never even see the birds before they are shipped. Next time you recieve a batch of chicks, look at the box and shipping label.

Acyually ... The HUGE hatcheries do indeed hatch. They get their eggs from contract egg producers, but they hatch maybe up to 500 000 a week or more. They ship out the day-olds to growers.

And yes, they turn.

Google *commercial incubators* and read some of the specs. They are fascinating.

They have some pretty large walk in hatcheries.

Edited to say, oops I meant incubators Lol

Alot of hatcheries do get there birds from other places, Mc Muarry, Meyer, etc
I will NOT go into debate about it on this thread, just call them and ask, to be 100% sure where your birds are coming from.

Yep that was me in one of my finer moments, so just like Cynthia said, all of my eggs candled great up to the end and they all died. It was a very depressing day for me so I would not recommend it.

Yes they do hatch a good majority of chicks. I orders Blue Slate and Royal Palm turkeys form Welp and they are in Iowa I believe. When I got the box it was a zipcode from Tx.

Oh well, they are so cute.

Unfortunately I apparently had a misunderstanding once again, I am done thinking out loud now.

Back to the original topic please...

lol ... Terras

McMurray is a medium sized hatchery

The *Large* hatcheries don't generally deal with small flock-owners, they deal in hundreds of thousands for Tyson and the like.

The next size down are the Ideals and the McMurrays. They are great for us because they offer lots of breeds and small shipments.

They also *drop-ship* some orders, so we are all correct.

One of the reasons I was so against threads running out of control about the McMurray problems is that we need them.

As an aside, they also sponsor this site, keeping it free for us all.

Criticize by all means, just keep it constructive folks

I totally agree

As far as turning goes. I think it critical for the beginning of incubation or otherwise the chick will stick to the shell.

I'm going to try the not turning incubation. How do I set eggs? vertical position or just lay it on its sides?
