I just found out that our coop in infested with ticks! Holy cow they are everywhere! Any suggestions on how to best get rid of them?

You'll probably have to dust both chickens and the coop with Sevin Dust or other permethrin dust. I'd take out all bedding and burn away from coop and put the dust down and then new bedding. You can use an old tube sock or cut off hosiery to put dust in and hold each bird and dust them thoroughly. Repeat as needed.

If you had somewhere else you could put your chickens until you made sure the ticks were totally gone, that'd be best, but if not...treat and re-treat until they are all gone.

They can also get on YOU, so be aware and wear your pants legs tucked in or taped at bottom and long sleeves. If it was ME, I'd be so freaked out that I'd go take a flea/tick shampoo afterward! LOL
 
Oh geez, poultry ticks are no fun. I found them in my coop last year and then made a BYC page on how I got rid of them: https://www.backyardchickens.com/web/viewblog.php?id=56638-poultry-ticks The page isn't quite finished yet, but most of what you need is there. I've also communicated with a BYCer from Australia with a chronic tick infestation and he finally found success by spraying the crevices around the roosts with linseed oil. Good luck!
 
I've noticed that my little one-eyed chick keeps getting ticks between her toes. I'm assuming she doesn't eat them because she can't really see them. I take them off one day and they're back the next. I'm thinking they're in the coop. Just about every time I go even outside the coop, I get a few on me.

The thing is, they don't look like the ones in this article....

It doesn't sound like you have poultry ticks. They don't often get on humans (although they can) and once they get to be a certain size (which is very small), they can be found on their host only at night. Your plan of action against the ticks will most likely help, but you'll probably always have some moving into your area. The DE won't be much help at all if it gets wet or your humidity exceeds ~70%. It may or may not be appropriate for you situation, but bycers commonly recommend guineas for tick control.
