i am wanting to get some birds i can let free range all day.i know there will be hawk problems but they will be enclosed seurely at night.i don't care about the eggs.i just want them to have a better chance than, lets say an orp,at living free.
i am looking for alert, flighty or crazy birds ,just not mean birds.(so no games

Lt. Brown Leghorns all the above mentioned qualities and charateristics and very beautiful to look at all day long. Excelent foragers you'll prolly never see them in the coop 'cept to lay and roost other than that they'll be busy, very self-sufficient

I think the reason someone mentioned brown leghorns instead of white is because the whites are easier for predators to see. I hear that the rump less Araucana are the best free rangers. They can escape predators and fly well yet are friendly.
