We picked up two Great Pyrenees puppies over the weekend. We will use them to guard our chickens.
Next Spring we're getting some sheep to add to the mix.
Right now they are getting settled in to their new location and enjoying life on the farm.

Their names are Beauhunk and Cleatus.

My alpha rooster, Dreadlock, had to come check 'em out to make sure he would allow them to hang out with his hens.

I guess they were accepted.

Dreadlock still keeps an eye on them, though.

The boys enjoy hanging out with the chickens.

Right now they're puppies and enjoy being cute.

And playing like puppies...

OntheFarm127.jpg

Whenever they play rough, Dreadlock always has to come check on things.

OntheFarm107.jpg

Dreadlock keeps the puppies in their place.

Sometimes the puppies bark back.

Then they call a truce.

OntheFarm158.jpg

Dreadlock gives the puppies long lectures on how to behave.

All-in-all, I think the puppies will be fine.

The end.

My corgi would just not approve. He doesn't like anything around his chickens

The chickens eat scraps with him at the same time

I love watching dogs and chickens get along!

Good luck with them. We have a pyrenees and she's been great. Best investment we made for the birds as she does a great job keeping predators out of the yard. Also a very good dog around kids - my grandkids just love her.
