I think this white one is a Houdan - it has 5 toes. Is that normal? I hatched all 5 of these out from eggs i won on ebay.
I think I heard this one crow already.
All of these birds are 5 weeks old in the pictures.
That's my oldest Rachel in the picture. She loves the chickens.

This guy and the above white guy were bumping chest. is that indicative of males? And do polish have 5 toes?? also what type of polish is this one? i have no clue with the coloring.

& what color are these two & can you tell if they are males or females?
it doesnt look it in the picture but they have white top hats but they are a grey/blue or pale brown (depending on what light i am looking at them in) on their bodies. and they are bantams i believe. all of these in the pictures are except the houdan.

thanks for any help you might can offer.

I have 8 silkies i want help on but they are all the same age and there is no telling until they are much older right?

Polish do not have 5 toes, houdans do, and there are white houdans. Does it have feathered legs, if so it's a sultan. But sometimes polish can hatch out with 5 toes, but the can mean inbreeding, or bad stock. Bumping chests does not always indicate a male, they could just be figuring out their pecking order. The second one looks almost like a golden laced polish, and silver laced polish mixed. The 3rd one can be a self black, or it can just be a WC black polish with really bad coloring. The last 2 look either like WC blue, or WC khaki/chocolate. As on male or female, I think it's too early to tell, but females have a rounder top hat, while males have a more spiky/poofy, top hat. I'll take the houdan and khkakis off your hands

they're georgous! What seller on ebay did you buy eggs from? I bought polish eggs on ebay too from 2 sellers, some are self black and self blue frizzled.

thank you for your help. none of the polish have 5 toes - i was just asking. the white houdan does and i know he crowed and i was astounded as he was only 5 weeks old at the time. he's 6-7 weeks old now. - they all are.
I got them from a seller named Blue Polish. His name was Jim. I think he is in Pennsylvania. Out of 7 eggs, 5 hatched. i thought that was excellent.
The black one had on the egg (he wrote on the egg) SC for self chocolate. He had most of them labeled correctly - like the Houdan. The 2 little khaki/blue ones i believe he had listed as WCChocolates. And the one that you identified as a mix he had as a Creole - but i didnt understand that.
But i was pleased with them.
I just got 18 polish eggs (mixes - Buff Laced, Golden Laced, WCBlack) from Peeps7. He wasnt sure of his fertility. Only 5 are growing, but i'm happy. I cant wait to see what they turn out to look like. The Polish are my very favorite!! For me there is no other chicken!
Again, thanks for your help.

Okay, I bought from the same buyer, and had a great hatch and also had a few creole babies hatch out, they are beautiful when they are older. Good luck with your next hatch and your birds are georgous!
