HELP- Hens attacking new Phoenix rooster!

I just got my new rooster home today from Alycia. I put him in with my hens that are .5 a week younger than him, but he is much, much smaller. My hens keep doing a long "eewwwwww" hiss sound. When they get close to him they puff up and jump jump on his back and peck him. I am worried the will gang beat him to death. What do I do?
 
it is not getting bloody yet. poor guy! they will be mad in a couple of months when he is not showing them any affection

Is there any way to put him in an area where they can see him and hear him but not get to him for a week or so? Maybe that would help the girls to get used to him. How many hens do you have? Maybe he feels out numbered. Or the hens might be putting him at the bottom of pecking order! Just a guess. Poor guy! Good luck to you.
 
It sounds like you are in the same situation I was in last fall. I brought in a new Rooster who was smaller than my hens. He wouldn't fight back and demand his spot as Head of the Flock. So - my girls were terribly mean to him. I kept him for two weeks, separating him at night as they drew blood on him the first night in the coop.

They finally allowed him to live with them as long as he kept to the opposite side of the run area. I got him to protect them! I had to protect him from them!

I ended up sending him back to the lady I got him from. She had told me up front that she'd take him back if it didn't work out.

If you can put him in a separate area next to the girls and let them get to know each other through a fence it might help with the integration. I would say that after a few days or week, if they are still attacking him then you need to either always keep him separate or find him a new home.

Hope it works out for you better than it did for me.
 
So this morning when I went to check him out he had some blood on his head and comb. poor phoenix! I took him out and put him in the one of our dog crate/kennels. It was sized large. They can't get in, so I think I am going to keep in the crate for a few days, until they get used to im, POOR PHOENIX
