I received this rooster last month form a co-worker. She did not know either his age or breed. She owned him about a year and he was given to her as an adult.

Some of the pictures of Faveroles kinda-sorta look like him, but he doesn't have feathering on his legs.

Meet Hoss:

Any breed hints would be most appreciated.

Looks like a Faverolle to me, too. Maybe he wasn't show quality because of his clean legs? That's why someone gave him up to begin with?

No poofy face though.... I'm thinking Faverolle mix maybe???

He's handsome though!

He's a colourful mixed breed. Even if he was crossed with Faverolle he'd have some feathers on his legs. Much too long legged & short bodied to be a Dorking.

How's that for making up a breed?

It's not a Dorking. I don't know what he is, but I know he's not a Dorking.

Dorkings are built more "horizontal and long".

He is a pretty thing though!

Okay Faverole Cross it is!

Thanks everone for your suggestions and kind comments. I think Hoss is a pretty guy, but I am biased he's my first.

He seems pretty big to me, I was given him sight unseen and I built the hutch/cage as a temporary living arrangement until the coop is done. Once I tipped him out of the box he came in and I saw him for the first time, I though Uh Oh cage too small.

Here he is trying not to share his bread with the cats.

Since I first got Hoss he has molted and is a real beauty!

I just read on the 'other' BYC forum about Golden Duckwings and I wonder if he would be considered a Golden Duckwing something?

Check out all those long blonde saddle feathers!
