I'd like to see eveybodys chicken related inventions that made your task of caring for your poultry pets easier! If you are proud of something you built, then Id like to see it!

Ive been wondering about how to make watering and feeding my chickens easier. I thought about trying to make the waterer bigger or the feeders bigger also but Im not sure how to go about it. I want to put them on the outside of the coop but I dont know what materials I should be looking for.

I don't have any ideas but would love to see some so I thought I'd get this post back up into sight.

There are some really clever people here... someone must have something to share?????

can you tell me how many cattle panels you used for your run? & how many chickens you have in there?

Is that 2 panels over lapping each other?

I have someone who is having such a preditor problem (we think foxes) this looks perfect for her!

I am going to print off pictures for her (she is not into the computer)

one of our homemade feeders is made out of green sewer pipe,lol. when we moved in we had extra pipe from redoing the old house all new to tap everything in for the new one so he figured why not.

DH cut 2 big holes in it, capped the ends and bolted 2 pieces of board to it to keep it from rolling. i keep it in their coop but it could be used outside. they can't scratch in it and not waiste feed like most feeders do and plenty of room to put heads into eat. it could be made longer with more holes to suit the size u need. it's my fav feeder it so much more cleaner to use than a open pan and they can't sit on it or walk in it.

i'll add a pic after they finish maintaneing.

Hi, My DH threw together a larger feeder and waterer. I am sorry I do not have pics yet but I am sure that you could find some on here similar. For the larger waterer he cut a small rectangular opening near the top of a 5 gal empty bucket of paint. we put the bucket upside down (with lid on) in a plant water holder base from walmart. the base has to larger than the top of the 5 gal bucket. it should be about 2" or more deep. when you fill the bucket with water, turn it upside down in the base, the water will flow into the base until it reaches the rectangular hole. we go thru that water about every two - three days. we put apple cider vinegar in it to help cut down on bacteria. i wash it thoroughly every time i refill it. we bungie corded the handle (of the bucket) to the top (bottom) of the bucket and I make a cone out of chicken wire (no sharp edges) to fit over the top to stop them from landing on it and pooping in the water.
The feeder is also made with an empty 5 gal bucket. We drilled 1" holes evenly around the bottom of the bucket and put the bucket into the same type base as the waterer. We put nuts with bolts thru the bottom of the base and the bucket to connect them together. It lasted about four days when they were small. Now it lasts two days. I have put a large funnel inside to make sure that all of the food runs out of the holes.
Some one on here made their waterer the same way but put it rightside up, I would like to know if that worked for them as having it upside down is a pain. Hope this helps. MK
