My DSD bought me a cookbook for making dog treats, so I'd thought I post some of them here.
I haven't tried all of these recipes, but some of them look good enough to eat myself. I also haven't evaluated all these recipes for nutritional value. Use your own judgement if your dog(s) have allergies.
The cookbook says most of the treats that call for refrigeration can be kept for two weeks in the frig. Freeze for longer storage.
Feel free to add your dog treat recipes!
Chunk Chicken and Sweet Potato Treats
1 1/4 c. of 1/2" pieces of cooked chicken
1/2 c. of 1/2" pieces of cooked sweet potato
2 c. of all-purpose whole wheat flour
1 c. evaporated lowfat milk
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
2 large eggs
Preheat oven to 350
Mix all the ingredients together well, making sure the pieces of chicken and potato are thoroughly coated
Drop by rounded teaspoon onto greased cookie sheets
Bake 14 to 18 minutes or until golden brown
Remove from oven, let cool thoroughly and store in airtight container in the frig.
