For people wanting to make cookie "Gifts in a Jar" I found my book!

All you need is a 1 quart canning jar, a little piece of fabric for the lid (optional), a small card w/ baking instructions, some ribbon/string/twine, and the ingredients. Here are the different cookie mixes in the book, let me know if you want the instructions for any of these and I'll be happy to post them!

Here are the Snickerdoodle instructions for ya, CityGirl...

Cookie Mix

2 3/4 c. all purpose flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp baking soda
2 tsp cream of tartar
1 1/2 c. sugar

Layer the ingredients in the order given into a wide mouth 1 quart canning jar. Pack each layer in place before adding the next ingredient.

Attach a gift tag with the mixing and baking directions (below).


1 jar cookie mix
1 c. butter, softened
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1/2 c. sugar
1 T. cinnamon

Preheat the oven to 355*F. In a large bowl, cream the butter until light, add the eggs and beat, until the mixture is smooth. Add the cookie mix and continue to beat until dough begins to form. Shape the dough into 1-inch balls and roll in the cinnamon-sugar blend. Arrange on ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 10 to 15 minutes or until light tan. Transfer to wire racks to cool. Makes 4 to 5 dozen cookies.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix

1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 c. all purpose flour
1/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. brown sugar
1 c. chocolate chips
1/2 c. brown sugar
1 c. all purpose flour

Layer the ingredients in the order given into a wide mouth 1 quart canning jar. Pack each layer in place before adding the next ingredient.

2 c. quick rolled oats
