Arizona Chickens

Like I said I don't see anything that has changed but if you remember correctly I had a visit from the city guy and he told me then that he would bring me a copy of the new ordinance. He stopped by today and dropped it off. He really is a very sweet person. Anyway that is why I posted it. He kept saying it was new but I don't see anything new. Maybe they had to change some of the wording or something. Beats me LOL

edit: Oh there is no date on the paper I was given. I typed absolutely every single thing that is on this paper into that post just as it was written in all it's confuzzled wording. I really don't know why they can't write this stuff in plain old everyday language. Who the heck talks like this? These people use the word "shall" more than the Bible does.

Well at least your guy was nice! Maybe it was new to him. I had forgotten you had a visit from the "nasty neighbor" fairy

If you go on the City of Phx ordinance website, it reads the same...no new changes there. As always, the key word seems to be "disturb" so....if you have male poultry which can crow, but don't disturb anyone, they are totally legal!

You mean I could have copied and pasted that mess? Do you have any idea how hard it is to type out stuff that is worded all funny like that?

Oh well it's done and now we know what we all already knew and the neighbor fairy with elongated nose disease can go butt a stump.

I made a "chicken" binder to have on hand if I was ever questioned...laminated pages, binder, the whole nine yards.... In there I have a copy of the ordinance, copies of my ariel maps from the county website showing 80 plus feet from both residences, cleaning protocals, feed storage, residual pest control etc etc etc. That way if anyone every says anything I can go "Here, read my book"

Nessa - you are so kind to do this. That sounds like a real pain to do all that typing. Thank you for thinking of us. I suppose you know it well by now though.

That ugly purse reminds me of a gift my wife got from the president of the bank. It was an armadillo made into a purse. I guess he bought it while on vacation in Mexico. Just "de politico" she had to make a show of actually using it a couple of times. It kind of reminded me of a foot ball with a face, snout and little arms.

I wonder if it is still around here somewhere? How does one go about listing something on Craigslist?

Hi Everyone,
The weather was georgeous today. I hope you enjoyed it. I still have only one of six chickens laying, but another one started squatting today so I have hope. I do wish their combs would all go red. I have wondered about mites...do we have mites/lice here in the Phoenix? I think the comb thing is just about recovering from broodiness/molting, but I worry a bit. On the plus side, I think my extra lights are helping some. They are good birds and look healthy otherwise.
Hope all is well at your house and that your Christmas plans are coming together and that you are finding joy in the season. (I know that can be hard sometimes.)

When I adopted my SL Cochin hen, she had lice...I treated her topically (and later orally) with Ivermectin and "no more lice"
