Back home safe and sound. I got lots of nice things. No food processor or salad shooter, unfortunately, but nice other things!
Spent Christmas with my parents, son and dil, her family, and of all all things, my ex-husband (divorce in 1978) and his current wife. We had a great time. Everyone seemed happy and joyful. If there were any mis-steps, they were probably mine.
On another note, did you notice that my pic of the week got a short run.... So sad for Henry.
Donna - I have Cuckoo Marans. They are 19 weeks.
How many are you thinking about? I also have Welsummers, which are another dark egg layer. And also (Thanks to Mike) I have Barnevelders and Black Marens 3 1/2 weeks. I expect to be re-homing 1 of each of the first 3. And maybe one of the Barnevelders if I have 2 females. All are potentially dark egg layers.
On that same line, I wonder if anybody is ordering from Sandhill this next year. I want to get a couple of Black Pendanesca to add to my dark egg layer group.
My chickens had a smorgasbord of Pumpkin, Apple, Cranberries, Broccoli, Baby Bok Choy, Wild Bird Seed Mix, Scratch, Pears and mixed grains. I piled all of it (cornocopia style) in a couple of bins and put them in their coop before I left on Wednesday. Everythink looks pretty picked over, so I think they had a great time with it. I hope it made up for the fact that they had to give up their all day range that they normall get.
Moody is back helping me herding chickens as of tonight. What a champ. He is really loving his new job. And I miss his help when he is gone back to his dad's.
I hope everyone had a great Christmas or other holiday celebration.
