I can't believe we're already planning for the Spring swap! Im betting we'll have an awesome turn out again as chickens are ever growing in popularity in our area and I've already! been hearing chickentalk about this years event.

Chicks
Laying Hens
Started Pairs and Trios
Showy Bantams
Waterfowl
Gamebirds
Hatching Eggs (no eating eggs unless you are properly certified)
Incubators
Brooders
Coops
Waterers/Feeders
even Bunnies
Farm/Country Crafts
Who will be there: This is a Buy/Sell/Trade event and it is open to everyone. It will be organized by BYC members and advertised by us but most of our shoppers and many vendors will be the public.
All Npip'd West Virginians are good to go! We may have a tester onsite to test birds at 7am. There is usually a small line so you may want to see about this free service beforehand. Out of State folks must have all birds making the voyage tested for (AI) avian influenza no more than 10 days prior to the swap. This is WV state law. MD, VA and PA participators please contact your local Ag. dept for further info. or pm me.
To keep things more orderly, we will be asking all vendors to check-in. After you set up, please stroll by the check-in desk and sign in. Have any necessary paperwork with you. When you sign in, we'll ask you to give your email as well. This will ad you to our mailing list for upcoming poulty events.
OK, we have 3 months to prepare
This is a great time to start hatching for some started pairs and trios and to look over our flocks for keepers and culls.
Im going to need some help and Im sure Majestic Farms and Kryptoniteqhs will be all in. If anyone else would like to help (put up flyers.. I will email you the jpeg, work check-in desk, name tags, etc) please post here. If anyone has some other ideas, please post.
I was also thinking of charging 2-3 dollars for vendors who will be selling more than 5 birds. This will offset some the advertising cost. What do you think? I plan to advertise in the Buyers Guide and Valley Trader.. these are pretty cheap but still cost. I also advertise on Craigslist and was thinking of having the newspaper do a story on us.
