This thread is being watched very closely.

Get back on topic please.

If you can't then please exit the thread.

I have asked several times that this be a discussion of non-religious, not anti religion.

Please go back and edit your posts before I have to do it for you.

Define 'spiritual' as you mean it here, and I can answer your question. It's one of those words that have different meanings to different people. I've been called 'spiritual' and sometimes I think I am, and sometimes I think I'm not. I've been known to say things like 'this rock formation feels alive' and 'this place has an energy to it', but that's more a case of the language doesn't have the right words to describe what I'm trying to say.

I also do Tarot card readings and the like, but I'll be the first to admit I'm not 'reading' the cards, I'm 'reading' the person across from me and using imagery from the cards.

wouldn't being non religous mean not subscribing to a religion or belief? To me being spiritual is based on a feeling of one-ness with nature and the world around us....of course I think spirituality would be different for each person.

I always felt that spirituality was knowledge that we all have instinctively within us that taps into the world and earth and universe, just have to allow ourselves to feel it. Religion on the other hand seems to be something that we have to be taught and comes from another's ideas of what is the right thing to believe. Saying that, needing to be taught the 'right' thing to believe seems to be reduntant. We already know it and would act on it without instructions.

I agree with all the definitions of spirituality listed here. It means a feeling not a dogma or doctrine. A feeling of being connected to nature, other beings (animals, humans), the universe as a whole. I agree with Curliet. It seems when we are told what to believe and we stop thinking for ourselves we somehow lose that innate ability to automatically know what's wrong and what's right. We start to tune out and rely on an unnatural source of information since we no longer trust our own "inner voice".

Saying that "sin" doesn't exist for spiritualists confuses some christians. We don't enjoy feeling disconnected from the energy we are so tuned into so we naturally try to avoid things that bring us out of harmony with this energy. It doesn't mean we are perfect or even strive to be but it does mean we avoid the things that make us feel like "less" than we know we can be. So we are not "heathens" as many christians see the term, without god and therefore without a conscience, we just choose to listen to our own moral compass for our own benefit, not because we are afraid of being banished to hell but because we like ourselves and want to keep liking who we are.

Yes this means that some of our behavior would seem strange to many folks. I have a huge problem with somone calling someone else "stupid" but a swear word thrown out that is not directed at anyone in particular does not bother me at all. I also don't feel like gays are a threat to me or my marriage and I believe they should be allowed to make their own choices. I also did not have any problem with the notion of living with my husband for a year before we were married. In fact I insisted on it! It would confuse me to have someone tell me this is wrong when we are both consenting adults and we hurt no one. This is not politics to me this is a basic human right, to be able to follow your bliss as long as you harm no one (including yourself).

And yes I believe that rocks have an energy too. I am going to Sedona this summer and am really looking foward to it. Talk about rocks with energy!

BTW, I am not trying to bash anyone's beliefs, just stating my own, but if anyone is feeling like I am feel free to have the mods edit my statements.

I just wanted to say that I am religous. I am Catholic. I go to school with student of different religion such as Muslim. I am intrigued by different religions/beliefs/spirtuals/anything else! I know my faith and I am proud of it. I am not offended by any other beliefs or religion because who am I to say that someone HAS to believe in what I believe in?! I am very understanding and I am interested in learning what yall believe in! I know most non religious people have gone to a catholic school but didnt like how they made you believe in some thing. Well, I think that they wanted to teach you a basis to what your religion was about and it was up to you to believe in it. It may seem that you are forced into it but I know its not like that. I know there are some people that get very upset with someone not believing in what they believe in. I just remind myself this "who am I to tell you that you must believe in God and Jesus?"
