Up for auction are 6+ (6 minimum, 10 maximum) Shamo hatching eggs.

The parents are a Barred Wheaten male and a Wheaten female, giving you 50/50 odds of Barred Wheaten or Wheaten. These Shamos are of the O-Shamo variety, meaning they're the largest. My pair is from Jim Zook lines and are still young, but my stag is already surpassing 26 inches tall. Shamos are a slow growing breed, so it will take some time before he completely fills out and grows to his maximum.

Shamos are a type of Oriental Gamefowl, bred for fighting. They're very large, slow growing, and extremely friendly and kid-safe, however one should NOT keep more than one rooster in the same place as they will fight to death. Shamos are only aggressive among males, but are not aggressive towards people. They're very heat-hardy, can handle some cold, are excellent foragers, make good broody moms, and good flock protection. They are also APA recognized, and can be shown.

Shamos are an excellent choice for anyone who wants something different in their flock and/or who wants a great "pet" like chicken! We raise and breed ours for preservation and love of the breed, not for fighting.

These eggs will be shipped on Tuesday, February 22nd to the winning bidder. I take payments via Paypal, however if you do not have such, I accept Money Orders.

They've tolerated everything we've gotten so far. 3 snowstorms, some ice, lots of frost. . . This winter is actually colder than normal. Not crazy, but they've taken it all pretty well. I keep heatlamps in their coop for night time, but the entire day they spend outside, toughing it out. I think for places like Minnesota, you may want to have heatlamps or a run covered in visqueen or something.

Summer shouldn't be bad, but winter. . . Isn't it icy cold up there?

Ok thanks, yeah it gets pretty cold here(-25) so maybe not the best choice, quite tempting though

I live in W. WA, do you ever sell juveniles? I would love to have a pair, but really don't have the space to separate two or more roos.

Yes, I do. In fact I've got two pullets in the brooder right now as well as three stags. I'm sure the stags won't get much demand, but the pullets, once at about 4 months, I'll let go of. The key is to snatch one before someone else does.

Illia, after your advice on which breeds, I checked out your website and fell in love with your Shamo's. Decided I had to have one!! And look here you are selling eggs. But, I live in CT...what do you think are the odds of the eggs surviving such a long journey?
