I'm so excited!! My little rescue Pete is getting his companion tomorrow!

Here's the link of the rescue of this poor little guy. https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=465980&p=1

I'm so excited to be able to get him a mate! Deerman was gracious enough to offer a peahen to me but unfortunately we live too far away from eachother. So I did some searching and finally found a woman who was selling pairs of india blue peafowl. So I emailed her and explained my situation and asked if she would sell me 2 peahens instead of a male and female. Well, she has a yearling india blue from a hatch date in the spring of 2010 that doesn't have a mate so she's going to sell me her for $40. I'm so excited and just can't wait to get her home and see what Pete thinks of her

In the meantime, I've been planning a new build...one for Pete and his mate. I have him in a temporary pen right now, but I'm going to make the pair a permanent residence. The coop will be 10x12x8 and the run will be roughly 16x32 with 8 foot sides with the raised netting running down the center . So far that's the planned dimensions, but I constantly change my mind when I'm building things, that it may very well change again before I'm done.

I'll post pics when I get her home!

Well I got her today and she is just beautiful!! I've named her Penelope! Here she is with Pete. She's not caring too much for me but that's okay

Her and Pete seem to get along just fine. They've been staying pretty close to eachother all day so I'm pretty confident they'll be a good match

I managed to sneak in another pen to get some pics of them together because right now she's just kinda hiding from me. She was in a pen with a male and 2 other females along with about 8 pheasants when I picked her up. I'm really hoping that she'll like the space of the area I'll be giving them. It will be more (alot more) space that what she had before.

I was tickled to death when I saw him displaying for her

So tickled I actually praised him and giggled at him...silly boy

I also started working on their new pen today so I'm hoping that'll go up pretty quickly.

Good I am glad he likes her! Penelope will get used to you eventually it might just take a little while. Every new peafowl I get is a bit afraid at first but now all of mine eat out of my hand and lie down near me and let me get really close to take pictures.
