Sorry I couldn't communicate yesterday, too crazed putting th final touches on the
Ebay presentation. Get this they applauded after my creative part!!! SO cool, great comments saying we did a great job, very unique presentation melding our strong creative with our technology offering etc. I think we nailed it, now they have 2 more vendors coming in so probably won't hear for a week or two....Whew glad that is over!
My babies, well things have taken a funny turn. I'm going to back up and hopefully explain this well...last year I was apart of a task force to work on this very piece of code in the city ordinances, ironic isn't it, so I was pretty aware that I had too many in my flock but that I could have hens and roosters and really needed to be concerned if a neighbor complained about noise. Apparently this is exactly what happened.
I had reached out to my good friend on this task force ( a long time chicken owner and educator in Lafayette) who had worked directly with this code enforcer on the interpretation of the very ancient code. It was disclosed to him that this was in fact a noise complaint/s and that basically the city incorrectly crafted this letter to reference a livestock issue, versus a noise complaint. In order to properly address a noise complaint the city has to do a huge amount of work to access weather the noise is in actual violation ie: barking dogs etc. I'm pretty sure I know the jerky neighbor that reported this.
I had called the city enforcer as well and he called leaving a message to affect that, he was working with my friend on the code and at this point is not going to be issuing a violation or taking any action until the interpretation on the code is determined. Meaning that he was sighting that the code that applied to my property was one of livestock, however there is another piece of code that chickens are actually considered small farming/small pets and not livestock. a bit confusing sorry - my best friend Dyann - most of you met her at the byc party at my house, is a lawyer and did quite a bit of research on this. We are waiting to write a letter until we hear more from my CLUCK friend and the city enforcer.
With all that said I will still be looking to reduce my numbers. How and what I don't know except that I have a ton of chicks 2-6 weeks old for sale. I'm also going to go down to only one rooster, my Sir Giles - in the coronation sussex pen (I have 4 of their pullet eggs developing in the bator now - if they hatch I will be selling those at the end of the month.
Also in my incubator are the most rare MILLE FLEUR LEGHORN eggs - 25 developing now, as I was going to breed them...if someone is interested in this breed let me know. I'd like the person to take them all and have a passion to working with this unique variety.

Clio - if you are still interested in Clio and Daphne-the 50% english orps I'm happy to sell them to you, I know they will be loved, they are almost 7 months and huge!
As it seems I may not be able to keep roosters, I will be selling my coronation breeding flock. It consists of 5 hens and 1 roo - sir giles. These are the most impressive birds. Sir Giles is huge and with perfect form. If interested in the entire flock please PM me, I'm really sick about letting them go as I spent so much time already on them culling to the standards of the sussex not to mention the initial financial investment.
